Zanzibar is a Tanzanian island off the coast of East Africa. Zanzibar is home to some of Africa's best beaches. On its main island, Unguja, is Stone Town, a historic trade center with Swahili and Islamic influences. Pemba Island, known as "The Green Island," is an island separate from the mainland of Tanzania and Zanzibar. Unlike Zanzibar, Pemba is still "undiscovered" by most tourists which helps to preserve its white sand beaches and coral reefs (some of the best scuba diving in East Africa is found here).
